1. Traditional Kintsugi Workshop (90 min)
In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to experience the most impressive step of traditional kintsugi repair: the dusting of gold powder over the restored parts.

Price: 16,500 JPY per person (until Jan 31, 2026)
New price: 22,000 JPY (from Feb 1, 2026)
Traditional kintsugi uses natural urushi lacquer, which requires time to cure.
For this discovery workshop, the vessel is partially prepared in advance, allowing you to focus on the process.
This workshop has two parts: first, you’ll experience one intermediate kintsugi step, and then you’ll finish a prepared vessel by applying gold powder—the final step you can take home.
Workshop Update: January–February 2026
-
January 2026: The first half of the workshop is updated to include one intermediate kintsugi step as part of the “Kintsugi Relay,” while the second half remains the same—finishing a prepared vessel by applying gold powder. This updated content is available at the current price.
- From February 1, 2026: The workshop fully transitions to the new structure, and the new price (22,000 JPY) applies.

FAQ — Traditional Kintsugi Workshop
Can I complete a full kintsugi repair in 90 minutes?
No. Traditional kintsugi uses natural urushi lacquer, which needs curing time. A complete repair takes days to weeks (often longer), so it cannot be finished from scratch within 90 minutes.
For this discovery workshop, the vessel is partially prepared in advance. You will experience one intermediate step (selected by our team) and complete the final gold powder finishing.
What is the “Kintsugi Relay” in the first half?
From January 2026, the first half includes one intermediate kintsugi step—such as gluing, filling chips, sabi-urushi leveling, or applying black urushi.
The step is chosen by our team based on the vessel’s condition. Your work is passed on to future guests, like a relay, so together we restore a broken piece step by step.
What can I take home, and when?
- Same day: Take the piece home with a drying box.
- Studio pickup: Pick up after at least one day of drying (longer is better).
- Shipping: Ship to your hotel or overseas about a week later (shipping fee applies).
What is the drying box, and how do I use it?
The drying box helps the urushi lacquer cure after the workshop.
Keep the box closed in a warm place (around 20–30°C) for at least one day (longer is better). An instruction sheet is included with the box.
Is traditional kintsugi food safe?
We use traditional kintsugi techniques with natural urushi lacquer. Once fully cured, it is considered a food-safe option for kintsugi.
Our traditional finish uses 23K gold powder. (Brass finish is not certified as food safe.)
Can I choose the vessel design or damage level?
Vessels vary in design and size depending on availability, and we cannot reserve specific pieces in advance.
To keep the workshop doable within 90 minutes, we limit the damage level to what you see in the examples. In some cases, a more heavily damaged vessel may be available for an additional fee (depending on inventory).
Do I need to bring anything? What should I wear?
No need to bring anything. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
If you have long hair, we recommend bringing a hair clip. Japanese working clothes may be available for groups (subject to availability).
Private bookings and special scheduling
Private booking: We can rent out the room for the price of 6 persons.
Additional dates/times: If you need a special schedule outside listed slots, an additional 5,500 JPY per group may apply.

FAQ — Kintsugi-style Workshop
What is “Kintsugi-style”?
Kintsugi-style is a kintsugi-inspired craft experience that does not use urushi lacquer. We use epoxy and a brass-colored finish to create decorative joints.
Is this the same as traditional kintsugi?
No. Traditional kintsugi uses natural urushi lacquer and requires curing time. Kintsugi-style is designed for a short, easy, same-day experience using resin.
What will I make in the workshop?
You can create small items such as chopstick rests, earrings, or key chains using pottery pieces and/or sea glass. You can make as many as you can within the time.
Can I use the finished items as tableware?
This workshop is designed for small items and accessories. It is not intended for repairing tableware for food use.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes—this workshop is recommended for those who are sensitive to urushi lacquer, since we do not use urushi in this experience.
What finish do you use—real gold?
Kintsugi-style pieces are finished with gold-colored brass powder (not genuine gold).
Age limit / what to bring
Ages: 6 and older.

FAQ — Regular Kintsugi Classes
Do I need to speak Japanese?
No. Both our Ebisu and Asakusa studios have staff who can communicate in English and French on selected days.
Depending on the class, support may be provided through interpretation or direct guidance by the kintsugi instructor.
Some classes are led by instructors with limited English ability. If language support is important for you, please contact us in advance so we can recommend the most suitable session.
Is every class fully supported in English?
Not always. English/French support depends on staff availability and the instructor scheduled for that session.
Please contact us before booking if you would like us to recommend an English-friendly class.
Can I join if I use Google Translate?
Yes. If you are comfortable using Google Translate (or a similar app), you are welcome to join a session.
For the smoothest experience, contact us in advance and we’ll suggest the best class for your language needs.
I am a short-term visitor. Which option is best for me?
For short-term visitors, a single-class option may seem convenient at first.
However, many guests later return to Japan and continue kintsugi with us, and find that purchasing single classes repeatedly becomes more expensive over time.
If you think you may continue kintsugi in the future, we often recommend paying the registration fee and purchasing class tickets from the beginning.
Please feel free to contact us to discuss how many classes you can realistically attend during your stay—we are happy to advise.
Can I repair my own broken vessel from start to finish?
Yes—if you are staying in Japan for a longer period (about two to three months), it is possible to repair the same vessel from start to finish in the regular classes.
However, if your stay is shorter (for example, one week to one month), the urushi lacquer may not have enough time to fully cure between steps. In such cases, completing all stages on a single vessel is often difficult.
If your goal is to experience and learn all the kintsugi processes, you can still practice each step using different vessels prepared for learning purposes.
If you do not have a broken item of your own, we can provide damaged vessels through free donation pieces or paid options. Please contact us in advance to discuss availability and your goals.
How long does it take to complete a full kintsugi repair?
A full kintsugi repair usually takes two to three months.
To become comfortable completing the process on your own, we generally recommend attending around 10 classes.
The exact time, number of classes, and pace vary depending on the condition of the vessel and each person’s learning speed.
If you contact us in advance and share your goals, we can suggest a plan that best fits your needs.
Can I practice at home between classes?
Yes. For those who wish to keep costs down or practice more intensively during their stay in Japan, we recommend continuing kintsugi at home between classes.
We can provide homework-style guidance so you can practice independently.
Please let us know whether you prefer to focus only on in-class work, or if you would like assignments for home practice—we will adjust the class style to match your preference.
