1. Delivery Time:

・Place your order early during busy times such as the Christmas and New Year holidays to help ensure it arrives on time. We are not responsible for delays caused by carriers, customs, holidays, or other circumstances beyond our control.

・We cannot process shipments on Saturdays, Sundays, and Japanese holidays, so please expect a delay during those periods.

・We use FedEx instead of Japan Post for most international shipments for the following reasons:

  1. Shipping Restrictions
Japan Post does not allow liquid items, such as the lacquer included in our kintsugi kits, to be shipped to many countries, including the U.S. and Canada.

  2. Tracking and Cost
Non-tracking options with Japan Post are inexpensive but provide no way to confirm delivery. For tracked shipping, Japan Post's costs are similar to our business contract rates with FedEx.

2. Sales Taxes, Customs Duties, and Other Fees

For orders placed from 12:00 AM JST on July 3, 2026 onward, eligible international orders are shipped with duties, taxes, and customs handling fees prepaid by us whenever possible.

This means shipping fees may look higher than before, but in most cases, you should not be asked to pay extra import fees when your package arrives.

However, customs rules vary by country, and customs authorities or the carrier may still request additional documents, such as an invoice, TSCA form, or SDS. If this happens, please contact us immediately so we can support you.

Depending on your country or region, VAT, sales tax, or similar charges may be included in the product price, shipping fee, or checkout total. We do not provide refunds for taxes or fees charged outside Japan.

Shipping availability, shipping fees, duties, taxes, and customs handling fees may change without notice.

3. Important Notes for Shipping to the U.S.

For U.S. orders placed from 12:00 AM JST on July 3, 2026 onward, eligible orders are shipped with duties, taxes, and customs handling fees prepaid by us whenever possible.

In most cases, you should not be asked to pay extra import fees at delivery. However, FedEx or U.S. customs may still request additional documents.

・TSCA Form for U.S. customers:
FedEx may ask you to submit a TSCA Form when importing lacquer products from Japan. TSCA stands for Toxic Substances Control Act, a U.S. law that may apply to lacquer products regardless of the seller.

As long as the form is submitted by the deadline, your package can usually be delivered. If requested, we can provide the form for you to print and sign.

If you refuse to submit the TSCA form or do not submit it by the deadline, the carrier or customs may return or dispose of the package. In such cases, we may deduct shipping, return shipping, disposal fees, and related costs from any refund.

・SDS:
When shipping Tsugu Kits or urushi lacquer by air, you may be asked to provide an SDS (Safety Data Sheet). If requested, please contact us immediately, and we will provide the SDS.

4. Important Notes for Shipping to the EU

For EU orders placed from 12:00 AM JST on July 3, 2026 onward, eligible orders are shipped with duties, taxes, and customs handling fees prepaid by us whenever possible.

In most cases, you should not be asked to pay extra import fees at delivery. However, customs authorities or the carrier may still request additional documents or information depending on the country.

If you are asked to submit documents or pay unexpected import fees, please contact us immediately before making any payment. We are here to support you.
