1. Delivery Time:

・Place your order early during busy times like the Christmas and New Year holidays to ensure it arrives on time. We are not responsible for any delays.

・We cannot process shipments on Saturdays, Sundays, and Japanese holidays, so please expect a delay during those periods.

・Our company uses FedEx instead of Japan Post for the following reasons:

  1. Shipping Restrictions
    Japan Post does not allow liquid items, such as the lacquer included in our kintsugi kits, to be shipped to many countries, including the U.S. and Canada.

  2. Tracking and Cost
    Non-tracking options with Japan Post are inexpensive but provide no way to confirm delivery. For tracked shipping, Japan Post's costs are similar to our business contract rates with FedEx.

2. Sales Taxes, Customs Duties, and Other Fees

Charges other than the product price:

  • For overseas orders, shipping fees may apply in addition to the product price, depending on the destination and the items purchased.
  • For eligible orders that include any of our three Tsugu Kits, import duties are prepaid by Tsugu Tsugu, so no additional customs duty payment will be required at delivery.
  • However, VAT, sales tax, and similar taxes may still be charged separately at checkout, depending on your country or region.
  • Orders that do not qualify for this campaign, such as orders containing only individual items, may still be subject to customs duties and other import-related charges upon delivery.
  • We do not provide tax refunds for taxes or fees charged outside Japan.

3. Important Notes for Shipping to the U.S.

【Prepaid Duties Campaign for Tsugu Kit Orders】 We are currently running a prepaid duties campaign for eligible orders worldwide. Orders that include any of our three Tsugu Kits are shipped with duties and import fees prepaid by Tsugu Tsugu, so you won’t have to pay any extra customs charges at delivery. Prices may be slightly higher because these costs are included. This campaign may end without notice. 

・TSCA Form for U.S. customers: Fedex may request you to submit a "TSCA Form" upon receiving the product. The TSCA (Toxic Substances Control Act) is a U.S. law regulating the import of toxic substances, including lacquer from Japan, regardless of the seller. As long as it’s submitted by the deadline, your product will be delivered. If requested, we can provide the form, which you’ll need to print and sign. If you refuse or delay to submit the TSCA form by the deadline, the shipping company will dispose of the item on the spot, and we will be charged an additional disposal fee. Please note that we cannot issue a refund if the TSCA form is not submitted by the deadline.

・When shipping Tsugu Kits or urushi lacquer by air, you may be asked to provide an SDS (Safety Data Sheet). If requested, please contact us immediately, and we will provide the SDS.

4. Important Notes for Shipping to the EU

【Prepaid Duties Campaign for Tsugu Kit Orders】 We are currently running a prepaid duties campaign for eligible orders worldwide. Orders that include any of our three Tsugu Kits are shipped with duties and import fees prepaid by Tsugu Tsugu, so you won’t have to pay any extra customs charges at delivery. Prices may be slightly higher because these costs are included. This campaign may end without notice. 

5. Areas and Conditions Where Shipping Is Unavailable

・Shipping to P.O. boxes and US bases is not available.

・Countries we have previously shipped to can be selected when entering the shipping address, and the shipping cost will be shown before the final payment. However, countries we have not shipped to or where delivery has failed cannot be selected.

・Shipping to certain regions may be unavailable due to conflicts or changes in social conditions.

6. Tsugu Kit Free Shipping Countries (As of Feb 14, 2025)

United States, Japan, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Canada, South Korea, Spain, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Poland, Belgium, Austria, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Israel, Singapore, Portugal, Greece, Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Slovenia, Latvia, Estonia, Croatia, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Malta

The countries listed above are where we ship the Tsugu Kit with shipping fee included. 

We also ship to many other countries not listed here. However, due to the greater distance from Japan, shipping costs are higher, and additional shipping fees apply.  

For products other than the Tsugu Kit, shipping fee is usually not included, and additional fees may be required. Some countries offer free or discounted shipping for orders of $150 or more.  

We only ship to countries where we have successfully delivered products before. If your country is not available at checkout, it means we do not have prior shipping experience there. Please contact us for assistance.
